Colombia - Bogóta & Cartagena

Updated: Feb 28, 2019

I have never been to South America before, and Colombia was an excellent place to start! I was traveling there with my partner and his sister. This was mostly a work trip in the beginning for him, so his sister and I went out and explored. We started out in Bogóta for two nights and stayed at the Westin. Then flew to Cartagena for three nights, we stayed at The Hilton.

Bogóta sits at about 8,000 feet above sea level, so I was dizzy the whole time. I definitely felt a lot better after a drink or two. Some of my highlights of Bogóta were, taking the a cable train to the top of Mount Monserrate. This was about 2,000 feet higher, and was a lot of walking! Another thing I loved was the accessibility to street food, we tried just about everything. I'll post some more pictures of the food. We went to a restaurant called La Bruja, which was phenomenal. If you follow me on Instagram, you can check out my Colombia story and see the margarita I got, it was wild good and the presentation was probably the best part.

Cartagena was full of beautiful streets and plenty of stores to window shop at.
